Edge strips

Traditionally, edge moldings are used to protect external corners and on top of half paneling, but you can also install an L-molding around door frames. Standard edge moldings are used, among other things, around door frames, window edges, interior wall corners, and on top of half paneling. Decorative edge moldings are most commonly used to enhance the appearance of a half-paneled wall or around door and window frames when a regular cover molding is not sufficient.
